11-15 Mayıs 2015 tarihleri arasında değerlendirme ziyaretini başarıyla tamamlayan Selçuk Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi, Veteriner Hekimliği Eğitim Kurumları ve Programları Akreditasyon Komitesi’nin (VAK) 30 Eylül 2015 tarihli toplantısında alınan kararla, 7 yıl süreyle Ulusal Akredite Fakülte olmuştur.

 


 

 ASSOCIATION FOR EVALUATION AND ACCREDITATION OF VETERINARY INSTITUTIONS AND PROGRAMS OF VETERINARY MEDICINE

MAIN INDICATORS OF NATIONAL ACCREDITATION

1. Veterinary education institutions (universities, faculties) to be applying for VEDEK national accreditation evaluation, should provide information within the guideline of self evaluation report including structure/facilities, competences, sections and departments, academic/administrative personel, student, clinical practices, animal species and patient profile, curriculum and education programs.

2. Undergraduate curriculum, including the programme, quality and qualification of the lecturers and their confirmity with the related speciality and departments are assumed as the most important main indicators of the report to be submitted. For national accreditation, the applicant institution should include sections of basic, preclinical, clinical, zootechny (animal husbandry) and animal nutrition and food hygiene/technology and related departments (Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, Biochemistry, Veterinary Medicine Histroy and Deontology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Microbiology Parasitology, Pathology, Virology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Reproduction and Artificial Insemination, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Animal Nutrition and Nutritional Diseases, Animal Health Economics and Management, Zootechny, Genetics, Biostatistics, Food Hygiene and Technology); where obligatory and selected courses should be included in the curriculum and the courses should be given by the lecturers in the related departments.

Within this context, at least 60 academicians (2/3 full-time lecturer) are expected to work in the applicant veterinary institution.

3. Applicant veterinary education institute should employ adequate number of administrative/ technical personnel in student, administrative, executive, management sections and academic affairs departments to reach the qualified service.

4. The amount of lecture halls, clinical services, field services, diagnostic- treatment units, laboratories and libraries should be in adequate number to confide educational sources and the number of registered students.

5.  Some key indicators (ratios) that should be provided in terms of educational capacity and practices in the assessment of veterinary faculties are:

Ratio 1: Number of total registered students/ Total academic personnel                  ≤ 9

Ratio 2: Number of graduates from the faculty/Total academic personnel               ≤ 3

Ratio 3: Total academic personnel/

Total administrative- other support personnel                                                   ≤ 0.7-2.4

Ratio 4: Total theoretical hours of instruction in the curriculum/

Total supervised application hours                                                                    ≤ 0.8-2.5

Ratio 5: Total hours of instruction in the curriculum/

Total hours of Food Hygiene and Technology course in the curriculum                   10-35

Ratio 6: Total number of ruminants (bovine, small ruminant, pig etc) seen in the faculty/

Ratio 7:            Total number of equine (horse, donkey, mule etc) seen in the faculty/

6. In addition to calculating the ratios for the basic determinants in the accreditation, the faculties should also submit data and information on all the criteria contained in these calculations in detail and on Table basis.

For example; Theoretical and practical hours of the curriculum, the number of students in each class, the number of graduate students by years, the number and positions of academic and support staff, the types of animals seen in (intramural) and out (extramural) of the faculty should be provided.

7. All facilities, equipments and equipments, especially clinics and laboratories, should be of sufficient number and quality to perform all kinds of basic professional applications and procedures in faculties.

8. The faculties applying for national accreditation should provide the number of theoretical courses, practical courses, supervised practice hours, clinical practice hours, extramural practice hours and emergency service practice hours of the courses in their curriculum according to years in details.

9. The faculties shall, indicate in their report the number of animals in all species that are institutionalized and student-monitored, examined, treated, and hospitalized by registered records for farm animals, poultry, pet animals and other animals in a retrospective manner with good record keeing practices. The number of cases where the students in groups practice in the faculty clinics and mobile clinics should be given separately.

10. All necropsy numbers for pathological diagnostic purposes in the faculty should be presented in detail and grouped according to the animal species along with the years from past to present (eg last 4-5 years).

11. Faculties should refer to the vision, mission and strategies in general and the current financial situation and organizational structures in the self-evaluation report to be prepared. In addition, the developments in the historical process startting from the post-establishment period should also be included.

12. Faculty should report the current structure, personnel status, facilities and activities of the departments and departments.

13. In addition to the curriculum content; information regarding the internship education, graduate and doctoral programs, quality evaluation of education, international relations, student welfare and social organizations, counseling etc. in the faculty should be conveyed in the report.

14. Scientific publications and studies based on research with the involvement of the students along with research based lectures should be included within the report.
